Dr. Adetayo Onososen is a Senior Researcher at the Centre for Applied Research and Innovation in the Built Environment (CARINBE), Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment, University of Johannesburg. With a PhD in Construction Management (2024), a Master's degree with Distinction in Quantity Surveying from the University of Lagos, and a BTech from the Federal University of Technology Akure, he brings over a decade of interdisciplinary expertise spanning academia and industry across Nigeria and South Africa.
His research sits at the nexus of digital innovation and the built environment — encompassing Building Information Modelling (BIM), Digital Twins, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs/drones), human-robot collaboration, and Extended Reality (VR/AR/XR). He leads and co-leads funded research projects with major industry partners including ESKOM, DBSA, CBE, and SANEDI, and has published extensively across journals such as Drones, Buildings, Sustainability, and Frontiers in Built Environment, accumulating over 565 citations on Google Scholar.
Beyond research output, Dr. Onososen is deeply committed to mentoring the next generation of scholars. As a supervisor of master's students, co-editor of the International Conference on Development and Investment in Infrastructure (DII), and lead of the CARINBE-CYPE VR Lab, he creates environments where researchers thrive — technically, professionally, and personally. His guiding mission: to deploy digital technology as a force for equitable, sustainable infrastructure across Africa and beyond.
